Innovation Award

innovation award

The consortium of Bavarian Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks granted its Innovation Award 2004 to KETEK. Along with that award KETEK has been entitled Bavarian Medium-sized Business of the Year.

The Innovation Award has been presented every year since 1991 to a Bavarian high-tech business. It was given to KETEK as a tribute to the scientific innovativity of the company, the development of the Silicon Drift Detector towards a marketable product, and its successful introduction into the semiconductor detector market. As well as to the company itself the prize is dedicated to Dr. Josef Kemmer the founder and owner of KETEK who revolutionized the fabrication of semiconductor detectors by the introduction of the planar process and led the company through all the different phases of its growth.

KETEK detectors have proven their reliability and usability in numerous industrial and scientific applications among which the MER-APXS aboard the NASA Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity are probably the most famous. They are available as easily installable detector-only OEM product as well as integrated into standard or customized detector systems with complete readout electronics.
